“Disputes can quickly become difficult when communication breaks down and positions become fixed. Wes Mediation provides a structured environment where discussions can move forward calmly and productively. The aim is simple:clarify the real issues, explore practical options, and work towards an agreement that both parties can realistically follow through on.’’
Biography
I am the founder of Wes Mediation and the developer of the Viable Agreements Framework (VAF).
I trained with Align Mediation in Oxford, achieving accreditation as a mediator with a high-pass grade. As part of my professional development, I also shadowed experienced mediators to gain practical case experience and deepen my understanding of the mediation process. My mediation practice is fully insured.
Before becoming a mediator, I spent 15 years building and running a catering business, expanding it three times before eventually selling it. Running a business for the length of time teaches you something important: conflict is inevitable but unmanaged conflict is costly.
I have seen first-hand how unresolved disputes affect decision-making, working relationships, reputation, and momentum. I have also seen how clarity and structure can turn tension into practical resolution. That experience shapes the way I meditate.
I do not offer therapy. I do not take sides. I do not push reconciliation.
My work is focused on one thing: helping people reach agreements that are realistic, workable and durable.
An agreement is only successful if it works after the mediation ends.
My style is calm, direct, and structured. I value clarity over performance and substance over noise. Participants are supported to think carefully, speak clearly, and move forward with intention.
Conflict does not need to escalate to be serious. Many disputes simply require the right structure to resolve them properly.
That is what Wes Mediation provides.
Understanding VAF
The Viable Agreement Framework (VAF) provides a structured pathway through dispute. It guides participants to:
The Viable Agreement Framework (VAF).
My mediation work is guided by the Viable Agreements Framework (VAF) - A structured approach designed to help participants move from a dispute to a practical resolution. The framework takes discussions through a clear progression: understanding perspectives, identifying the issues that truly need resolving, developing practical options, and testing whether those options will genuinely work in real life. Only when participants are confident that a solution is realistic and sustainable is an agreement confirmed and recorded. The purpose is straightforward: to help people reach a viable way forward that holds beyond the mediation room.
Clarify what is actually at issue.
Develop practical options.
Test whether those options will hold in real life.
Confirm commitment to what is agreed.
Record outcomes clearly and deliberately.
Your Mediation Journey
Initial Enquiry
One participant contacts Wes Mediation to briefly discuss the situation and explore whether mediation may be appropriate.
Convening
If mediation appears suitable, the other participant is invited to take part. Mediation only proceeds if both participants agree voluntarily.
Preparation Sessions
Each participants meets with the mediator separately to explain their perspective, clarify the issues involved, and prepare for a productive joint discussion.
Joint Mediation Session
Participants meet together and work through the Viable Agreement Framework (VAF) - moving from issue clarification, to developing options, and testing whether potential solutions are genuinely workable in practice.
Outcome Recording
Where agreement is reached, the outcome is recorded clearly so everyone leaves with a shared understanding of what has been decided. If a full agreement is not possible, participants can still leave with a Memorandum of Understanding or written summary of progress, capturing areas of understanding or possible next steps.
Follow Up
A short follow-up conversation can be arranged to review progress or address any remaining questions.
